there's more than meets the eye!
hirai momo was born in kyōtanabe, kyoto prefecture, japan on the 9th of november, 1996. at the age of three, she began dancing alongside her older sister, hana and hasn't stopped since.her love for dance fueled her love for music, though most may argue you can't have one without the other. this was certainly true in her case and momo quickly became enamoured with kpop, falling for the whole package it provided. she credits her mother's love for rain as the igniting flame for her love.but momo was quite the lucky case. in 2008, when momo was eleven years of age, she appeared in lexy's music video for 'ma people'. only three years later, in 2011, momo appeared on the talent show superstar k, performing 2ne1's fire. it was there that she also expressed her admiration for girls' generation.but, of course, that was not the end of her story. one year later, a video of momo and hana dancing online caught the eye of jyp entertainment. both were asked to audition, but only the younger hirai made it through, moving to south korea alone in april 2012.during her trainee days momo went on to feature in a handful of other music videos, until 2015 where she took part in the2012.[6][9] Before joining Twice, she danced in a number of music videos as a "K-Pop trainee".[7][8] In 2015, Momo participated in the South Korean reality television show Sixteen, created by JYP Entertainment and co-produced by Mnet.[1][10] She was initially eliminated in the competition but brought back at the end to become part of the final lineup girl group Twice.[1][7][11]In October 2015

In October 2015, Momo officially debuted as a member of Twice with the release of their first extended play (EP), The Story Begins,[12] and its lead single "Like Ooh-Ahh".[13]In Gallup Korea's annual music poll for 2018, Momo was voted the 20th most popular idol in South Korea.[14] She has been one of the most popular non-Korean K-pop stars since her debut,[7] and the Chosun Ilbo credits her popularity with helping improving relations between South Korea and Japan.[9] Known for her physical fitness and body movements, she was nicknamed "Dance Machine"[15][16] and is considered Twice's best dancer.[1][7][16][17] In 2019, Momo received attention on Twitter after a video trailer of her was released[1] and ranked as the tenth most popular female K-pop idol in a survey of soldiers completing mandatory military service in South Korea.[18]momo is often described by her members as a 'baby' - she needs to be taken care of quite a bit and has a childlike aura about her. yet, when it comes down to it, she can be someone who has a lot of strength. she has no desire to lead but she loves to support those around her. she's very introverted and caged really although she portrays herself as something else. she's expressed before how twice are her closest friends.
.to momo, dance is the only thing that has is constant. not constant as in static - her heart and mind feel most still then, but growth is never stagnant. since the age of three, dance became her first language. where she was clumsy with her words, she could communicate with grace and ease when she danced.it was no surprise then when she snapped up the opportunity to become a kpop star. perhaps a little far-fetched of her to have ever dreamt of it, but her mother was an avid rain fan and she easily fell down the rabbit hole. there are still remnants of her fandom days on the internet, but she's very grateful that

RE: DATING HISTORY!
( DISCLAIMER : this is solely for the purpose of character development. i'm not accusing heechul of actually doing these things. this is just to help explain why momo avoids deeper relationships with people for the most part, and why it's hard for her to open up 100%)
her first love was someone she met when she first began training at jype. it progressed from a small crush to a deep connection and to this day, he has a special part in her heart. it was a sweet, supportive relationship but time and circumstances were not on their side and so it was cut short. he dropped out of trainee life and moved abroad to focus on his studies. until now, whenever things are about to go wrong in a relationship, she dreams of him - almost like an omen. it helps her prepare for the worse and no matter what she does, it tends to be a sign that it's the end of the road for said relationship.
her relationship with heechul has definitely impacted her. when it first started, he complimented how mature she was but soon after, when momo was unhappy/unsure about anything to do with heechul, he would make her feel small and allude to her being ‘too young to get it’ or ‘too immature’. It left a bad taste in her mouth, but it was the first time she had dated someone seriously as an adult. When schedules got busier and she had more time away from him, she realised that she was much happier without him. he threatened to break up with her at one point, thinking she would still be stuck in the same loop of trying to fix things (as she’s a mediator and hates confrontation), but his ploy backfired, and she agreed to it. it’s still a sore spot for her, but to people she’s close enough with she’ll joke about it – because, of course, that’s how she copes.
for that reason, momo is quite wary when it comes to getting close to people (not just romantically, but in general as well). she's surprisingly quite shy and, in comparison to a lot of her members, struggles to build/maintain relationships. of course, it's not only this one 'bad' experience that made her cagey in those regards. in fact, she tries to be appreciative of the experience, understanding it was essential for her to grow and mature as well as to understand her own worth. momo is in no rush to find someone else, especially when she knows she's still not ready nor has she truly conquered fears of failing relationships.
